I hate packing. Sometimes I hate it so much I start hating traveling.
Anyway. I arrived. Hathersage.

The plan is to read those five articles I printed and put in my suitcase. The second plan is to write short but intelligent enough comments on those articles in this blog. Try that and a lot of hiking I said. Read while overlooking the landscape.
As this is a re enactment of my youth it fits this residency perfect. Only while still being so young I never got to the reading, let alone the writing. But I did have the intention. And the heavy bag. And the fantasies. And I made lots of kilometers. By bike, by foot. Lets see how I will do now.
As I do locative media art most of the articles are on locative media. The meaning of routes and mapping in this digital age.
Not all. The first article it is about sand visualization software. The one used in Spiderman III. I am a bit obsessed with this software. I know it exists, and I want to use it for an art project. I love the Sandman. I mean the sand. I am convinced that this virtual material opens up for a new kind of earth paining. Think Antonio Tapies, “Pintura matérica” in virtual terms. Digital surealism.
Now only I need somebody to convince the Hollywood studio’s to collaborate with me on this fantastic project. While reading the article I again strongly feel they must love it! But how do I get to those people?
Next article. It is By Greg Elmer and I found it in the latest issue of Aether. On the second page it mentions this book by Mel Gibson that features a locative media artist as one of its characters. Some weirdo walking around with a GPS taped to a mobile phone. This must have been me during AmsterdamREALTIME project. The book is from 2007. Why did I not know this! Why do I not read MORE and KNOW these things like any other normal artist! Have to stop writing now and finish the article. Talk to you later!!
