The mobile tourist guide “Guiduu” is an App for smartphones. Oberschöneweide, Berlin’s hidden industrial heritage, is used as an example area. Guiduu is a discovery tool and meant to be used on the move. Users can see their current position on a map as well as surrounding landmarks with historical background information in the form of multimedia material. Although the App can be used from anywhere, only the connection of the user’s real position and the virtual information of the App conveys the intended experience.
Besides the App can provide traced user data to visualize common tourist paths and its position feature can be used in conjunction with multiple users.

The software project Guiduu used various tools during the development process such as a version control software (SVN) to develop the source code in a coordinated way, an issue tracking system (Trac), a wiki software (Trac) to store and structure project information, Skype and Adobe Connect to hold virtual team conferences as one team member was abroad for some months, a blog (WordPress) to announce project changes internally and a webpage (http://guiduu.de) to expose information of the current project status to the public. Moreover we created 2 A1 project posters, 3 types of business cards and 4 presentations.
